Ford Community Project Ltd

Welcome to Ford!

The Project was formed in 2004 and its principal aim is to acquire an area of land central to the village that has been declared surplus by the Forestry Commission.  We wish to use the land to provide a range of community facilities based around a new community centre that will replace the existing village hall.

We have successfully applied to the Big Lottery Fund via the 'Investing in Communities' scheme for funding to purchase the land.  Purchase can now take place through the Forestry Commission's 'Forest Land Scheme'.  We now enter an exciting new phase of consultation where all users and potential users of the new facility can help to shape its final form

The area of land is approximately 2.5 hectares and comprises of a relatively level site of 2 hectares of former pasture with an old quarry site on its eastern edge.

The Fourth Ford Fun Day on August 4th was a great success with the rain miraculously holding off for the duration of the afternoon.  The Mid-Argyll and Czestochowa Pipe Bands were fantastic.  Live music from members of 'In Awe' entertained those in the hall sampling the wonderful home baking, browsing the craft stalls or marvelling at the 34lb Clootie Dumpling!  The evening saw the hall bursting at the seams as folk danced themselves to a standstill to the Ryan McGlynn Ceilidh Band.

It all happens again, bigger and better on 2nd August 2008.
