The Dochas Fund is a Scottish Charity that raises money to help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). On 12 April 2007 The Princess Royal opened the new Dochas Gallery. The new Gallery provides: - A Carers' Centre for those affected by neurological conditions, including MND or GBS - the first of its kind in the UK. The facility provides use of a counselling room and support from trained counsellors, as well as access to current information and research about MND & GBS.
- A community exhibition space. The Gallery displays the work of the late John Paterson, co-founder of The Dochas Fund, as well as that of other local artists. Visitors also have the opportunity to buy prints and cards produced from John's work.
- A permanent home for The Dochas Fund. The building includes office and storage space, essential for the Fund to continue its fight against MND & GBS.
- An enclosed garden space and seating area adjacent to the building. The outdoor area is open to all visitors to the Gallery.
