Scottish Charity SC004057WHO WE AREArran Council for Voluntary Servce (ACVS) is a charitable organisation, set up in 1965 to 'co-ordinate voluntary and community activity' on the Islands of Arran and more recently, Cumbrae. We offer a wide range of information and practical help and support to voluntary and comunity groups located or have an interest in these communities. Whilst our office is based in Lamlash, Isle of Arran, we can arrange site visits. We are also a link to many other local, regional and national organisations and networks that may be able to help. Arran CVS wants to hear from you/your group to Identify gaps in services & support Identify the main issues & concerns that have an impact on your group, volunteers, clients or service user Let us know what's happening in your group/community There are over 260 voluntary and community groups operating on Arran and many more that are mainland based that provide services to the island. The diversity and range of activities reflects the voluntary sector throughout Scotland. A large proportion of groups are arts and recreational orientated, with many contributing to the economy by organising plays, shows, gala weeks, art exhibitions and by providing public facilities. There are 9 village halls, managed by their local communities and the area also has a long history of campaigning and helping others.
