Argyll and Bute Concert Tours was formed in 1990 with the initial aim of furthering the work of its member organisations by arranging co-ordinated local tours. These enabled ABCT to secure performances by professional musicians of a standard its members could not afford as individual promoters. It soon became evident that its role had potentially a much wider remit in the musical and educational life of the District.

ABCT’s policy is to continue to develop its educational role in such a way that in addition to promoting public concerts of a high professional standard in all the main centres of its constituency, it will also act as an accredited agency available to both the public and commercial bodies to further their interest in encouraging music and the arts in Argyll and Bute.
